Forest Deck Retreat

The highlight is the wooden deck next to the 4th-floor sunroom.

Following the path behind ROKKOSAN SILENCE RESORT, you’ll come upon a building that once served as a hotel nestled within the Rokko Mountain forest.

A wooden deck sits atop the roof. “Practicing yoga here must feel absolutely wonderful…” Having only done online yoga lately, I imagined myself performing sun salutations surrounded by the forest, and suddenly felt utterly luxurious.

A symbolic exterior against the backdrop of early summer foliage.

True to its former life as a hotel, the 2nd and 3rd floors feature 14 bedrooms.

Rooms: Simple private rooms with twin or single configurations available.

The spacious training room has ample capacity—large enough for dancing—with views of cedar trees from every window.

First-floor training room: Easily accommodates meetings for about 60 people.

The dining hall and adjacent kitchen are professionally equipped. Perfect for hosting large groups.

The interior and exterior were renovated in 2010, but some areas may soon require maintenance consideration.

So, what could this property be used for?

A promising option is a retreat facility where guests can fully recharge with the power of Rokko Mountain’s forest.

This is a trail junction. After crossing Chojigatsuji and walking past Mikuni Pond, it takes about an hour to reach Mount Maya. After working up a sweat on the moderately challenging Agony Slope, we recommend toasting with a cold beer at the goal, Kikuseidai’s “cafe 702,” while enjoying the view of the town.

For a shorter distance, “Diamond Point” is a viewpoint just 15 minutes away, offering sweeping views of the Kita Ward area. Shrine Road is also nearby. This path, with a small stream flowing alongside, has sections where clusters of butterbur shoots grow.

Sunroom: The light streaming in from both windows feels wonderful.
A shared space on each floor. I’d love to drink my morning coffee here.

How about creating a stay where you spend a few days walking through the forest, enjoying delicious food, sleeping with a pleasant physical tiredness, and waking up to birdsong and the scenery? Here, even the sound of rain seems to offer a moment of peace for the mind.

Beyond this, Rokko Mountain offers various programs for easing use restrictions, making restaurants, offices, and lodging facilities possible.

If you have a wonderful “idea” or a “I’d love to try this!” moment, consider bringing it to life in this special place.
